Portal Tree

This tree painting came to me several years ago. It is painted in acrylic on canvas and the original is about 2 1/2ft by 2 1/2 feet square. Over time this image has shared various meanings to me, but originally it depicted one passage way into a shamanic world. The tree is related to the tree of life and they magical properties of trees as well as their guardianship qualities. The spiral also represents the basis of life, the essense of creation, as well as, movement in time and space. Originally the ivy circle behind the tree was going to be a second doorway into an ancient forest...but that never materialized so here it is.
